Be a HERO Resource Fair
2014
On Saturday, July 26th, 2014 at Fort Mellon Park in Sanford, Federation of Families, in partnersip with Youth MOVE Semiole, held the 2nd Annual Be a HERO Back to School Resource Fair. The national H.E.R.O. campaign is Help, Encourage, Respect Others & stand up to bullying. Federation helped raise awareness of the fact that it is often students with mental health challenges that are targeted for bullying; also, they can resort to bullying as a defense mechanism and become bullies themselves.
This year Federation gave away 253 backpacks full of school supplies, as well as additional school supplies, and saw 197 youth and 85 families. Several youth participated in the talent show; they were all fabulous! It would not have been possible without the tremendous support we received from individuals and agencies alike.
