JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:           Youth Leader  

 

Position Objective: 

 

This position assists to lead a Family Voice Movement and to provide supportive activity based respite care for families of children who experiencing mental health needs in Orange County.  The Youth Leader shall be responsible for the following:

                                                                                                                                          

Roles and Responsibilities:  

 

  • Facilitate activity based and educational respite services at a minimum for five (5) hours, two (2) days during the week and for three (3) hours, one (1) Saturday per month.   Additional days and hours to be determined by the County and Federation of Families of Central Florida depending on the needs of the families.

  • Facilitate the Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) curriculum groups a minimum of one time per quarter for transition aged youth (16-24) in the community utilizing standards set forth by WRAP as found at http://mentalhealthrecovery.com.

  • Participate in the Youth/Young Adult MY LIFE meetings monthly.

  • Co-facilitate childcare activities for all Federation monthly meetings and events.

  • Participate in other activities with the County as necessary for the success of the project.

  • Perform roles and responsibilities consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • An ideal candidate must have lived experience of treatment for a mental, behavioral or emotional need or personal experience in the foster care system that occurred before the age of 18 and should be comfortable with using that experience to enhance his/her work within the program. 

  • High school diploma with at least three years’ experience working with youth with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs.

  • Must be able to pass a Level II background screening and have reliable transportation.

  • Demonstrated ability to speak with small and large groups of people.

  • Experience with youth leadership and advocacy.

  • Have flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

  • Able to travel to required trainings.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence and sensitivity to population served.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum of three years’ experience working with youth with emotional, behavioral or mental health needs.

  • Experience in respite/childcare activities.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)/(English/Creole)

  • Understanding of the System of Care values and principles.

  • Experience in fostering partnerships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

 

Skills:

 

  • Must be exceptionally well organized and be capable of completing assignments with minimum guidance and supervision.

  • Must be highly self-motivated, and able to work independently when required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to work well with families, senior managers and providers.

  • Must possess basic skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook

 

Special Conditions:

 

  • Thorough Background Screening upon hire including FBI, FDLE, Local Law check, Employment Reference check, DMV check, Criminal Records check, Social Security Trace & Drug Screening.FDLE check will be run at least every 5 years.

  • Travel - local: 10% per week, long-distance: 5% per month

 

Status:   Non-exempt

Salary:   $33,280

Employment Type:  Full-time

Position Title:           Administrative Assistant        

 

Position Objective: 

 

This position provides administrative support and assistance to the Executive Director of Federation of Families of Central Florida, Inc. (FFCFL) to increase the time available for executive level responsibilities in Orange County.

                                                                                                                                          

Roles and Responsibilities:  

 

  • Support the work of FFCFL with the preparation of respite, MY LIFE Youth Group, family monthly meetings, trainings, and workshops (i.e., schedule conference rooms, set up A/V equipment and refreshments, etc.).

  • Complete all administrative tasks as assigned including but not limited to correspondence, filing, maintaining personnel files, etc.

  • Maintain a database of attendees at monthly meetings and provide communication about upcoming events via phone, e-mail and social media.

  • Maintain a database to track performance measures and measurable objectives.

  • Keep track of deadlines for mandatory reports and filings.

  • Maintain inventory of office equipment and supplies.

  • Maintain record of incentives and compensations provided to volunteers and/or family members, when applicable.

  • Maintain FFCFL’s website & social media.

  • Participate in other activities with the County as necessary for the success of the project.

  • Perform roles and responsibilities consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or English/Haitian/French-Creole.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Social media/website skills.

  • Discretion and professional appearance required.

  • The position frequently has low supervision, requiring the ability to work independently and make decisions with limited input.

  • Must be able to pass a Level II background screening and have reliable transportation.

  • Have flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

  • Able to travel locally to required trainings.

  • Reliable transportation.

  • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competence and sensitivity to population served.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Understanding of the Mental Health System of Care values and principles.

  • An individual with lived experience caring for a loved one with an emotional, behavioral, or mental health need.

 

Skills:

 

  • Must be exceptionally well organized and be capable of completing assignments with minimum guidance and supervision.

  • Must be highly self-motivated, and able to work independently when required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to work well with families, senior managers, youth and providers.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Applicant will be tested.
